About the Author
Prof. Robert I Rotberg is director of the Program on Intrastate Conflict at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and President of the World Peace Foundation. He was professor history and political science at MIT, Academic Vice President of Tufts University, and President of Lafayette College (in Pennsylvania) before returning to Harvard and taking up his present positions. He is the author and editor of a number of books and many articles. His most recent books include: China into Africa: Trade, Aid, and Influence (2008); Worst of the Worst: Dealing with Repressive and Rogue Nations (2007), which has a chapter on N. Korea; When States Fail: Causes and Consequences (2004). He has also published recent books on Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, and many African crisis regions. He has recently completed a book on Leadership and Governance in the developing world.
