On April 11th, 2024, Society of Climate Change and Sustainable Development (SCCSD) organized a field trip to the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) with the support from Professor Suh-Yong Chung and Korea University’s Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance (CGCMG).

GGGI is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization that supports and promotes strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in both developing countries and emerging economies. Some of the areas of focus by GGGI are waste management, solar energy, sustainable transport, green buildings and industry, forest (sustainable) landscapes, gender and inclusive development. Headquartered in Seoul, Republic of Korea, GGGI currently has 48 Member States and operations in over 40 countries.

The field trip lasted approximately 60 minutes, with presentations by four speakers. It began with an introduction of GGGI by Mr. Dave Kim, a Senior Advisor to the President & Chair (P&C) and Outreach Specialist of the Institute. The session was then continued with presentation on “GGGI Strategy 2030” by Mr. Romain Brillie, the Head of Strategy. Next, Mr. Mark Hopkins introduced “GGGI Carbon Pricing Global Practice” to the students. The final presentation was on GGGI’s career opportunities prepared by Ms. Yejin An. Lastly, the field trip ended with active Q&A and group photo sessions.

We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to GGGI’s warm welcome, and we sincerely appreciate Professor Chung’s guidance throughout the trip.
